Hi, I have a tractor in my yard - its been sitting there for 8 years that I know of. I have been offered $250. for it is that a fair price?
Its a Farmall A model #1540 ser.#99859

I'm suspecting that it doesn't run after 8 years. What's more critical to price is whether the motor will even turn over with a crank or by putting a battery to the starter. There are other things, but a motor that will turn and the condition of the tires will be the biggest factors. Without a picture I'd guesstimate you could expect anywhere from $200 to six or seven.

It is a 1944 Farmall A. The 1540 is just the max engine RPMs.

That is likely reasonable if the following:
The engine is stuck and will not allow it to be turned (pistons move)
the tires are toast and flat/cracked
the paint and tinwork are gone to rust dented.
If this describes it, that is fair
If any of these (especially a rotatable engine) is good to fair it could be worth as much as 1500, but not likely. JimN

Take the $250. It's a very generous offer.

As it sits, the tractor is worth its weight in scrap metal, and the tractor itself weighs less than 3000lbs.
