Started the "48 Super A up today and noticed it was leaking oil around the base of the oil filter housing. Never noticed this before. Its been cold here in Jersey and was thinking it may have a restriction somewhere. Any help would be appreciated

Dig the extra old gasket hidden down deep in the slot out, and install a new gasket.

Thank you for the advice Bob, any suggestions on where to purchase parts? Ive been using the local case dealer.

Some brands of filters come with gaskets, some don't.

I have no idea what a gasket would cost from the dealer vs. a filter and gasket packed together.

The groove in the block is REALLY deep, and I'll be surprised if you don't find an extra old gasket in there, about as hard as a rock.

Thank you Bob your response has been very helpful. If i was pickin at a hard gasket I would be wondering if it was the right thing to do. Thanks again.

You can also buy a spin on oil filter kit if you want. The spin on is a little easyier to install, but if you want it to look ariginal well you have to put up with the silly little gasket.

I used a Fram filter which came packed with the necessary square-ring gasket.

I think I used a pocket screwdriver to dig out the seal in the absence of proper o-ring removal "hooks and skewers"
