WHAT TIRES AND RIMS

Rims should be a 38 inch "bevel". That is a rim that slants down on each side, from a center rib.
Double stepped rims on the M's.

Lots of 36" rims were welded on to cut-off steel, so you might find 36s on those H"s that had the steel cut off. We have a couple of H"s in the area that have 36"s on cut off"s, along with an F12 or two. My F12 has 38"s on cut off steel & its the only one in the area with 38"s on it. My F20 has 38"s on cut off, but I"ve also seen F20"s with 36s on cut off steel. Like others have said, factory rubber on early H"s & M"s were 36 but later factory was 38. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Rubber tires was considered special equipment by IH, at times. Several sizes of rims and tires were offered in 36,38 and 40 inch dia. Some sizes were avalible through all of H production. Early manuals that came with the very early tractors only list 36 inch size rims, which were used. Most common and what ended up on most of tractors was the 38 inch size
