Gear Reduction

Hi,

Has anyone used a roto tiller with their Farmall Super C? Does the tractor need a 1st gear reduction? And if so has anyone done this? I may want to roto till, but want a good job. Any help in this matter will be much appreciated thanks!

Bob

Trust me, your SuperC goes too fast over the ground, even in first, with the motor at any kind of speed that would be useful for roto-tilling. In tough ground, it's idle speed in first would be too fast before you ever put the tiller to the ground.

About the only reduction I know of is the Hydra-Creeper feature that was an auxiliary hydraulic drive option on the SuperC. Unless you've got one or can locate one (I'm sure there must be some out there, but I've never seen one), I don't know what else you could do to slow it down.

I think the basic answer to the question is that you cannot roto-till with a Super C. It simply moves to quickly. Especially if you want a decent job. Sam

Bob: As the others said just too fast in 1st gear. Personally I wouldn't have one even if I had a proper tractor.
