Need feedback on IH TD340

Here are some pics of a IH TD340 that is for sale. The machine is out of state, so I cannot see it in person. I have recently been interested in crawlers, so I don't know exactly what to look for in the photos. The seller says runs, but to turn fast (I guess he means a sharp turn), you need to pull the levers real hard. He said the first $3k gets it. Is this a fair price based in the condition in the pics and that it runs, with the knowledge that it will need some mechanical work down the road?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

My take from photos!
If you need a toy to do some modest digging and loading offer 2000 max. It might buy it.
1 it has been beaten with a heavy stick in many areas.
2 it has 94% of the track worn off of it.
3 The drive sprocket is toast.
4 The seat is a hazard.
5 the track brakes are (probably worn to the point they can't be adjusted any more (big bucks)
6 the best part of it is the loader/bucket hydraulics. It is handy to own one But the thing is a money pit if you need to actually use it in a productive sense. JimN

I owned a TD-340 for a while a few years back. If it does not turn properly, it means the clutch brake system is out of adjustment or more likely that the brakes are worn out or coated with oil. It's a big job to repair the brakes. They are dry disks, just like on the TD-340 wheel tractor. Problem is that to change them, the tracks and final drives must come off as the brakes are on the pinion shaft between the transmission and the pinion gear. Seals are probably leaking oil and that has gotten on the disks. There is a drain hole in the bottom of the brake chamber. It's probably stopped up with dirt so that leaking oil can't drain. If properly set up, when you pull those levers, it first releases the clutch on that side and when you pull more, it applies the brake. Oil on the brake linings makes it very difficult to turn the thing. As Janicholson said, the sprocket an RH side is toast. It's gonna take a lot of money to get this one to where it can do any useful work. Looks like it has brackets on the back for a back hoe. About the only positive I see is the loader.
