1948 Farmall H bearing by my brakes

Hello i noticed when i replaced my brake band on the foot brake side of the tractor that there where two ball bearings missing in the bearing assembly. When i drained my trans oil,i did find a ball bearing. I started to remove the trans cover,Got all the bolts out but 1 that snapped clean.Belt pulley gear box is off, seat off and steering post is off.Do i also have to remove the gear shift? but i want to check with you people first. What is that bearing called? thanks john

I do not know the name of the bearing. The gear shift will raise straight off with the top plate. The gear shift is attached to a shifitng fork. Just make sure that before removing you know what gear the tractor is in and do not move any of the shifting gears. When you pu the plate back on just make sure the shifter is in the same position as when it cam off. If you move anything you may have problems.
