806D injector sleeve

I was hoping you could give me a little advice on my 806. I was taking the injectors out to be serviced, and with my good luck the last one popped out the injector sleeve too. I have never put an injector sleeve in with a head on the motor. Can it be done? I have always taken them to the machine shop and had them do it, but it was usually always more than one that came out.I did check the compression on this tractor and it is around 320-330 so it is a little low , so if the head comes off the next question is should I go for overhauling it? I really didnt want to right now but if I am in it that far ?? any of your guys thoughts would be appreciated

My question is , did it start and run decent. That would be what interests me the most for deciding to overhaul or not. . You can easily install a new injector sleeve, just need to clean head good and have a driver that fits new sleeve properly. Loctite the sealing surfaces.

Pete 23,

When you loctite the sealing surfaces, do you apply loctite to the injector before you put it in the sleeve and what type of loctite do you use.

Thanks,
Dave

No , you do not locktite the injector in . Some people use it on the sleeve or cup tube what ever ya want to call it to seal it to the head. IF the head is clean and the installation is done correctly then nothing is needed , as this is my thinking on this just where does the tip of that tube cup sleeve go but wright into the combustion chamber area and that area is going to get really HOT and i really do not think that the loctite is going to stand up to those temps. One of my long time friend ran a machine shop and in all the time that i knew him i have never seen him put anything on a tube . Clean the area up with a injector well brush make it shine and install the tube with the proper driver and it is done . Now where can i get a driver???? Maybe now i said maybe you can barrow rent or ya may have to buy one . It will not be cheap.

No loctite on the injection nozzle, just the sleeve if you like. If it was good enough for Internationl Harvester, it is good enough for me.

thanks for the replies. the tractor always starts good and ran good until the cold weather set in, but I know the injectors need to be looked at.the injector pump was rebuilt 2 yrs ago . I should be able to get the sleeve tool from the old IH dealer in my area, so that shouldnt be a problem there, I just didnt want to put it in and have it leaking coolant in to the cylinder.
