want to get a little more fuel out of my 560d is there an adjustment screw on the pump i can turn

There is a torque screw on rear or back side of injection pump depending on vintage of pump. This will most likely do very little or nothing but you can try turning it out a half turn or so. The main adjustment is of the leaf spring controlling the maximum movement of the pumping plunger inside and requires some dissassembling of the pump. Have to remove cover, metering valve guide stud and governor linkage. Then turn engine to see allen screw on leaf spring and turn it in a tad. Like maybe a quarter turn max.Then on reassembly, the automatic load advance will need to be adjusted. Not a job to be taken lightly as a runnaway engine could result. You may have low fuel pressure due to worn primary pump or regulator valve so the pressure should be checked before any adjustments are made. I will assume fuel filters and flow through hose at pump are good.

For best results if you do not know how to tweak a fuel pump is to have a pro do it and it should be done either on a test stand or on a dyno . The screw on the back side is a torque screw and it will give a bit more getty up and go , BUT keep in mind that when they go they go but WHEN THEY GLOW THEY BLOW!!!!!!!
