Farmall Super C Battery Cables

Does anyone have the specifications for the Super C battery cables. I want the cables to look like the originals but I don't want to spend the big bucks to get them. I noticed from the Operator's manual the positive ground cable is quite short, but I can't tell how long it should be. Also, I don't see any pictures of the cable from the negative post to the cranking motor.
 
Retcol: I'm assuming 6 volt, go 00 or 01 gauge and run the ground strap down to bolt screwing into a casting. I know it not original, but the sheet metal in the dash and battery box are not new either. I've started running every ground strap to cast, lot less problems with good ground. I like to run it down between battery and dash on offsets of SC, 200, etc. Attach it to bolt that holds the dash to casting, can't see it and looks just as original as new.
 
Original SC neg cable has a funky bent lug at the starter switch end. If you want it to look factory, you may have to take a stock cable and bend the lug or bite the bullet and buy original or repro.
 
I don,t have my parts book in here but I think the short cable in the box is one of those flat braided cables, goes from battery to one of the two bolts through the top of batt.box into the top of the switch,light, gauge box. It doesn't work very good in there. I attached mine to a stud on the right gas tank mounting bolt with a couple of those shake proof washers. The starter cable needs somekind of longer lug at the starter. It comes above the starter and then bends back if I remember right.
 
I think a lot of C's were foolishly converted to 12 volts because of the way the ground cable was connected. Like the rest say, put a longer cable as close to the starter as you can and 6 volts will work just fine.
 
I wasn't sorry I paid John Brillman the "big bucks" for a set of battery cables.
