how do i replace the seal on the trans shaft that comes fom the clutch
can i do the job from underneath the tractor is a stage two

Yes. If it has a reservoir, remove it and the access plates.
Remove three bolts at 120 degrees apart from the Pressure plate to flywheel (every other bolt). Put these three bolts into the three holes in the back of the Pressure plate. This presses in the fingers and relieves the pressure, allowing a bit of freedom for the clutch drive shaft.
Remove the bolts from the coupling (they are weird and tough to get out) Photo the assembly so as to get it reinstalled correctly. The clutch shaft now comes out (hold your mouth just right and cross your toes.) it will wiggle free. Now take off the bolt on the trans yoke. Then the three bolts on the retainer. Do not pull the shaft out! bearings inside can get lost. Many replies to this question are in the archives, so get some added thinking from that source. JimN
