I am going to look at a 1066 black stripe that has a cab. The dealer said, on the phone, that the cab is a year-a-round and that it is shot. He wants $10,000 with the cab and $10,500 without the cab. For ten five that includes labor to remove the cab, add the fenders, and the wireing of the lights. I"m not a big fan of the cabs on the 66 series, and i would rather have an open station. If a dealer says the cab is shot, thats not good. He said there is no rust on the tractor and there is 3000 hours on it. What do you guys think? good price? and should i keep the cab or lose it? thanks

i'm not much of a electrician and the new fenders at the local dealership are 200 bucks a peice plus the brackets and lights, i think i can talk him down on the fenders.

Not a big job to remove the cab but fenders will cost you $300. So thats $200 for the removal.

Plus you have to find the pieces to fill the platform and wire the lights.

That is a pretty steep price for a 1066 like randy says. But if the hour meter is right that is low hours for a 35 year old tractor.

The prices of a nice 1066 are all steep in my area. I could easlie get one cheeper if i headed west, but i would end up paying more for transit. There arn't too many black stripes around here, and i like the look of them. All the other stripes were 12,000 bucks all the way up to 17,000.

Where in the country are they fetching that kind of money for 66 series tractors? A good one in Indiana is worth about $7500 and a fair one $5K.

I have one here to sell for $200 (with a like new roof top A/C unit) that is availible for anyone that needs thier vision checked.... :)

We don't use the AC too much since we have to leave the cab doors open to see where to keep it in the row! However, we also have a 1466 open-air so we run it in nice weather and the 1066 in cruddy weather. We are getting pretty old so we are not out in the cruddy weather too much anymore!:^)

MAKE SURE IT IS A REAL BLACK STRIPE TRACTOR. I THINK THEY WERE ONLY PRODUCED ONE YEAR 1976!! ALOT OF FAKE PAINT JOBS OUT THERE.
