I posted a bit back about what I should do with this 1950 H that I bought and was convinced to keep and use it. Well I decided to add a loader to it this weekend and I hooked into the lift all. The question I have is when I pull the lever to lift I I have a delay some times 5 seconds sometimes over 30 seconds. I have never used this style pump before, is this normall or is something pluged or looseing its prime? Once it lifts it works well. thanks Paul

This may sound like a dumb question, but did you check your fluid level? Takes a lot of fluid to fill the lines and cylinders on a loader. Also, it won't be a quick as a modern loader, the belly pump only put out about 800psi at best.

I believe there's a kit that modifies the original lift-all so it will put out 1200 psi and many lift-alls had that kit installed. My guess is you have depleted fluid level plus perhaps a need to bleed the air out of the system that feeds the loader cyls.

The fast way is to set the bucket down on a secure set of blocks. A foot is Ok.
Remove the top mechanical connection and lower the cylinder till the hose is at the highest point. Work the cylinder in and out on a board to keep it from digging in. (Requires pushing it in manually) this pushes the air back into the res. Then the other side. Be careful. JimN

We need to know what model loader you have. The H's and M's do not have enough oil storage so they store extra oil on the back side of the cylinders. Requires two hoses to hook up each cylinder. One pressureline to the lift side of each cyl. and one line from the back side of each cyl. teed into either the drain plug with a 4-way tee or teed into the fill port again with a 4-way tee. The other way to add hyd. oil cap.(and best way) would be to upgrade to two-way hyd. Armand

Which port are you using for the pressure side? Some ports were fitted with a delay valve though I don't know what if any effect that would have on a loader. Also sometimes takes awhile for the fluid to warm up in our cold temps and while the fluid in the belly warms due to being pumped continuously with the lever locked back, the fluid in the cylinders is just sitting there until you start raising/lowering the unit.
