WAS WONDERING WHAT THE LETTERS ON TOP OF THE GENERATOR STAND FOR? I PUT A NEW GEN AND VOLTAGE REG ON BUT VOLTAGE REG IS ALITTLE DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE THAT WAS ON THERE. NOW I HAVE TO POLERIZE THE GEN EVERY TIME I USE IT FOR IT TO CHARGE. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

Field and armature. Field goes to the F terminal on the regulator, A goes to the gen terminal on the regulator, on the original this is the single terminal on the "rear" of the regulator.
 
If it was connected wrong, it would not charge at all. The new "different" VR is probably not working as it is supposed to. Polarizing should only happen with the tractor off. (it magnetizes the iron field poles so that they retain enough magnetic field to make it start charging) If you are doing it with it running, it means the VR you are using either has too high a pull in current required (setting from factory) or is defective. Did you get the Delco Remy # off the gen so that you got the correct regulator.The place you got the reg should have asked about the gen#
 
WHEN POLARIZING U SHOULD GO FROM THE BATTERY POST TO THE A POST? IF THAT IS CORRECT WHEN I SHUT THE TRACTOR OFF OR MORE RPMS THE VOLTAGE GOES NEGATIVE. THEN WHEN I RESTART THE TRACTOR IT IS NOT SHOWING CHARGE.

The proper method of polarizing is to do it with the tractor off. The jumper is to be used between the Bat and Arm (or Gen)terminals on the Voltage regulator. There should be a substantial spark. This current will temporarily swing the amp gauge to discharge when the jumper touches. (probably 20 amps, do not leave it attached, one second is all it takes).
If you need to do it with it running, something (probably the VR) is not right. Make sure the Voltage regulator box, and the generator are both grounded to the chassis/engine. Let us know what happens. JimN
