B 275 glow plug resistor

I'm working on a B275 that has the glow plug resitor/indicator burned out, once the glow plugs check out good, is there a reason to keep the glow plug resistor/indicator or can it be left out and power routed direct to the glow plugs from the switch?
 
Think there was a post about this awhile back. Anyway, the indicator on the dash is the same resistance as one glow plug, so you effectively have 5 in series across 12V. Take the indicator out and you have 4 in series, Therefore you have more current, faster heat up time, BUT MUCH MORE LIKELY to burn out glow plugs in short order.
 
Dont run only 4 glow plugs as with previous reply you need resistor in sequence to give= resistance across plugs. Plugs will last a very short time without resistor new resistors are always available on e-bay UK £35 appox
 
Hi, as another poster said, don't remove indicator resistor as you will burn out the other glow plugs. The indicator resistor is still available from CIH parts at least the one for 384 is available.

Don't forget, these glow plugs are wired in series, not in parallel. There are two terminals on the top of each one, and the two jumpers on each glow plug are separated by an insulator. If you try to connect 12 volts directly to the glow plugs they're fry quickly.

Had to re-do mine after I got it as someone didn't have a clue how to wire the glow plugs, and all four of them were burned out.

Thanks to all. I found out the plug wiring is all messed up, there are some hard wires left but no order to the connections, most are to the top nut.
I had to look for a fuel feed pump and found out it's going to be hard to find parts, the local IH dealer couldn't come up with the correct pump, his book showed one that goes on the injector pump, found one at the Mahindra dealer for $30USD.
I'm continuing to work on it.
