farmall h oil seals??

Howdy, Ive jsut recently taken the oil seals out od the transfer case going in to the gearbox, its the bull adn pinion and the other one i cant remember what its called.. i couldnt find them on the internet so i got napa to order them.. the della at napa said that the number on the oil seal matched what he gave me... so i looked at them and they are the same in diameter but the new ones arent as thick as the old and they arent made the same and arent as heavy.. do they have to be exact replicas.. i dont want to put them on yet until i jnow they will work because its too much work to put everything back.. please help me if youi could i can e-mail pictures to you of the seals so you can see them

thanks

the new seals arent as thick as the old ones. when you put them in , you can put them over a little so the dont run on the worn area where the old seal was running. and if you like you can double up the seals and run two, just pack some grease between the two seals

That's a pretty common scenario. The common advice is to stack two of the new ones in where the old one came out. The new one (or two) will likely wear on a slightly different spot on the shaft than the original.

A single new-style seal in both locations works fine. I installed them in my Super H about 8 years ago - hasn't leaked a drop since.
