100 Gear Oil

I say this somwhere but can"t find it now.
What weight gear oil is recommended for a Farmall 100 and what is the refill capacity??

Any suggestions on how to properly flush & refill?

Takes 80-90 weight gear oil in the transmission and rear end along with the final drives as for the amount someone else will chime in . As to what to wash it out with mineral spirits , kerosene . diesel fuel will be fine.

Larry: Heavier gear oil wont hurt, these little tractors don't have a transmission brake like Vet is used to on his big tractors.

The transmission holds 5 quarts, fill to level plug is on left, directly below front tip of laft fender, usually hidden by brake activation rod. Final drives each hold close to a quart, fill to level of big fill plug, bottom inside front of casting.

Hi Larry,

For about $30 you can pick up a reprint manual for your 100 which has information like what oil goes where, and can answer a hundred questions about your tractor that you didn't even know to ask. It's a good investment.
