Farmhand question

Ended up with a M & Farmhand F11A loader this past weekend. Fluid reservoir for the PTO-mounted pump was low, so i added some 30W non-detergent oil to get the bucket up high enough. Colder than crap right now, so slow to raise. Will using a lighter weight oil or hy-tran help, or would it do more damage than good? Perhaps Allan in NE would know?

Two choices; either use some lighter oil (10wt hydraulic oil) or let it sit there and run for a few minutes to warm up the oil.

That system is open centered so it's always pumping. However, 30 wt is fairly heavy for this time of year.

Also, forgot to add:

The darned things carry so much oil in all of the various cylinders and hoses, that it takes a certain amount of use anyway to warm up the oil, no matter the weight.

Mine usually limbers up good after I've fed the first bale.

Thanks for the reply Allan - that was my thinking, to run it for a while, but I can always add some 10w to the reservoir too. My dad used to add a bit of diesel to his F10 to thin it out during some of these Central NE cold snaps. Sure wish I had that F10 today...

pobo6;

Where do you call central NE. I was raised up north of G.I. over into Howard Co. Send an e-mail if you wish. I get up that way from time to time.
