M Farmall Serial Number

On the serial number plate the first 3 letters are FBK. Then followed by 151671 which tells me it is a 47 model. What does the FBK mean?

That just means it's a Farmall M.

Why they used "K" instead of "M" is anyone's guess. Mine is that IH originally wanted to call the tractor the model "K" but changed it to "M" at the last minute.
