Is there any reason why I could not replace the bad motor in a a WD-6 with a motor from a UD6 power unit?

No reason at all. Make sure all engine mounts/front cover and assorted fittings are switched as necessary. Depending on the powerunit output system, it might need a pilot bearing bore made in the crankshaft FW end. The pump governor might also be set higher or lower in RPM. Some governors are also not designed for variable speed use, so checking that is very important. JimN
