I need to split my '48 S/A to replace a gear in the transmission. I will replace the clutch & throwout bearing at the same time as well as some other seals etc.
I have an IH TC-39A parts catalog & the operators manual. What else should I get?

Vern: You should have an IT service manual. I'm sorry I don't have the book number in front of me but it probably covers C, SC and SA, maybe A and B as well. The one I have is IH-21 and it covers 100, 200, 130, 230, 140, 240, 404 and 2404.

Along with it you should have that parts manual IH TC-39A parts manual you mention. IT is helpful, however they don't do a good job on photos of part layout. An IH Blue Ribbon Service manual would be good, however those are scarce and cover components, at one component in each chapter. Example engine, steering, hydraulics, transmission, etc.

I don't think Blue Ribbon manuals are in print anymore. The ones I have came new with equipment, or I found them in flea markets at tractor shows.
