C Farmall smoke

Bought C starts and runs great after a few seconds of running it starts smoking you drive it on road cant see any smoke unless you start down a hill and it starts smoking somewhat. Would this be rings or possible valve guide trouble. But if I pull head just as well ring it as you are just about there. Any help will be great and thanks in advance to all opions.

Put valve guide seals on it. They can be done W/O removing head easily. The worst would be a few bucks worth of seals and a VC gasket if it doesn't work. Several have made the choice and had it improve substantially. JimN

there are two options higher priced teflon Perfect circle style seals and umbrella seals. They should have books with tractor data (ask to speak to the older guy!)with stem and guide specs in them. Simply stated the valve train is removed from the top (keep the push rods in order, and do not pull them out of the block fast, the lifters can be tugged out of their bores if pulled up fast) then put a 16inch piece of cotton rope in the cylinder through the spark plug hole (leave some sticking out), and turn the engine by hand to compress the rope against the valve heads. this prevents them from dropping into the cylinder when removing the retainers and installing the valve seals.
