Farmall 1020

A friend of mine has just purchased a Farmall 1020.The serial number is missing so we are unsure about the year. Have been unable to find much infro on this tractor. Being a Ferguson buff we need help from the IH guys!

An F-30 or McCormick Deering 10-20; maybe a F-20? Or something completely different?

Once you get that engine cleaned up and you should be able find a casting date on the manifold side and number on the mag side. I have a 22-36 apart right now, and even knowing where it should be I couldn't find that number until the block was "boiled out."

Knowing what it is, then there are other places to look too; a missing serial tag isn't uncommon.

Guy Fay has a good book on tractors that has a lot of data on Farmall/McDeering tractors including the 10-20. Technically, the 10-20 is not a "Farmall" it is a "McCormick-Deering."
The 10-20 is very similar to the W-30 except the W-30 has a water pump. In fact, my W-30 has a 10-20 block -- IHC never threw anything away, they just put it in the next model.

I think the SN is on the frame rail if it's an F-series tractor. IH specialists will know.
