Live hyd pump on 1950 H

If I want to put a live hyd pump on a 1950 H do I need to change the front cover? Did M&W make a live pump for an H? Like to put on a loader and live hyd would be nice.

I am sure someone else will chime in but I don't think you replace the front cover. If it is like the M you disconnect the distributor and take out the spacer and put it in the spacers place. I am not totally positive on an H though.

The front engine cover changed at serial number 344864 - in mid to late 1950. If your H has a higher number than that, you will probably be good to go. If a lower number, then you would want to change front covers and also make sure you had the late H heavier timing gears to drive a hydraulic pump. mike

That would be the process if the gears and cover matched the pump, but early tractors (as mentioned above) have weak gears and different hole spacing. M&W pumps fit the spacing, but do not replace the weak gears. JimN
