After starting(crank)engine runs good for 30-45 seconds then runs rough for another 30-45 seconds then starts missing. Increasing throttle or chokimg makes no differance. No change w/adjusting mag. Removing plugs and doing compression test shows 60lbs on all 4 cyl. Have adequte fuel from pump. Carburator filter changed and screen cleaned. Plugs are new. New gas.All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks Randy. We are not blessed w/available IH parts in the deep-deep SE-USA. Where would you suggest I might find a new cap and condensor?

Condenser any GOOD auto parts tore should have or be able to get. As for the cap they maybe able to help also but not sure on that. I know my local one could get me both but they also know me well and know I can be demanding. LOL

Does it seem to be one particular cyl missing, either intermittently or regularly?? IF SO, try swapping plugs and check for good hot fire to the missing cyl.
If conventional dist, parts store should be able to substitute a condenser that'll fit if orig not avail, just take yours in with you; if can't find cap try examining carefully for cracks, checking ALL contact areas (where plug wires and coil wire go in on outside, where rotor arm contacts and spring/carbon top of rotor contact coil wire on inside). Check end of rotor arm for corrosion also.
I'm assuming old plugs came out clean, no heavy deposits or oily residue, nothing unusual on new plug(s), and that engine running normally, no overheating etc before missing started.

Put a can under the carb and drain fuel from the float bowl into the can. THere should be a steady and strong stream the size of a 16d nail or better for at least 3 or four minutes. If it does flow well then fuel supply is OK. A manifold that is cracked can do that trick. As it heats, the manifold expands and causes an increasing air leak that leans out one or more cylinders. To check use a propane torch (Little bottles), unscrew the nozzle to allow propane (not a mix of air and propane) to come out of the small tube. Start the tractor, and with a modest flow of propane, see if mooving the source around on the manifold area makes it run better. If it it leaking at a gasket, or external crack, it will pick up speed. Allowing propane into the intake at the carb will also richen it and if lean make it run better. If the intake is cracked, or has a hole into the exhaust manifold, it will not show up with the propane trick. Be aware of fire hazzard, and outside is best to do this experiment. JimN

I HAVE FOUND THAT YOUR HOMETOWN NAPA STORE SOMETIMES STOCKS OR CAN EASILY ORDER ELECTRICAL PARTS FOR MOST FARMALL APPLICATIONS.I LIVE IN NC AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE PAST.

New plugs and old plugs all look good. No overheating problems. Will go to NAAP tomorrow and see what they can help me with.

I appreciate all the advice. Will let you know how I come out. Thanx.
