Where to buy pipe for exhaust manifold

I need to gen a new piece of pipe for the exhaust. I"ve called all around Louisville,KY and can"t find anyone to get it from. I know it"s 2" but how long is it?

Also where can I order it, I"ve looked at a few sites and it"s either really overpriced or not listed.

I thought it was just a piece of 2" black iron pipe that had threads on one end... You could make it whatever length you wanted and have it cut at a hardware store that threads pipe for you.

I may be completely wrong, Rusty would know better....

Clark, you are correct, but by the time you buy the proper length of pipe, and pay someone to thread it, I doubt if you will have saved any money.

I would just go to your local hardware store and get a piece of black pipe. also DON'T FORGET THE NEVER-SEEZE when you put it togather. Armand

When I worked in a plumbing/heating supply store, we stocked 2" pipe nipples in many various lengths. I sold alot of pipe nipples for IH manifolds.

ny Menards,Home Depo or Lowes will have a nipple that will work if you are in the Lousville area there is one nearby.

For my B I just went to Home Depot and got a pipe nipple 8 inches long. You end up with threads on both ends, but that isn't a problem. If you don't want threads on both ends, you could just cut the threads off one end. I think it cost me about $2. I went with galvanized and haven't seen that the galvanize is burning off, but I don't use my B for heavy work, so the exhaust doesn't get real hot.

Sorry Rusty, I didn't realize your catalog was that large. Your price is very reasonable! I feel like an idiot I forgot Plumber's supply is right down the street. Went down at lunch and got a 12" long 2" nipple. I'll chop the extra threads off, and cut some flutes in it to use as a thread chaser.

go to lowes or homie despot and get a 2" pipe nipple in what ever length you want...If it is too long cut one end with a hack saw.

I see that you already bought a nipple... I used a scrap piece of 2" conduit (Rigid) and threaded it. I think I cut mine 12"-13" long tip to tail.

Good luck removing the old one if you have not already... That can be interesting.

Most every hardware around here carries black pipe in different lengths and threaded on both ends.

The only tractor exhaust pipes I ever bought was from a hardware store.

In case anyone is wondering, black pipe is just ordinary pipe, it's just not galvanized and doesnt splatter when welding like galvanized does.

We can't always fix our tractors, but plenty of us on this forum have exhaust pipe knowledge. Getting the new piece is easy; getting the old one out can be the "Sonova Beach" portion of this tour...... mike

Or you can live without it. Bushhogging under trees killed the threads in my manifold about 15 years ago. I bought a flange at NAPA that bolted right on to the 'ears' on top of the manifold on my 1966 140, and added an extension and a round generic NAPA truck muffler thats looks just like the IH muffler inside and out. Works great and I think the NAPA muffler lasts longer than the stock ones did. I know they are cheaper.
