656F/ 263cc/ carburator

Can someone tell me how to identify what type carb I have on my 656 farmall gasser. It was produced around1966/67 and has the electric cut out switch in rear of carb. The id tabs are gone and I'm not sure if there is a number stamped anywhere on it or not. Don't know if it's a IH or zenith, or other. A quick ref of some kind would help

I have a 666 gasser with a 291 engine and recently rebuilt my carb which sounds a lot like yours. Mine is a Zenith. It has the fuel shut off solenoid on the bottom/rear of the fuel bowl. If you go to the CNH parts catalog on-line and search on the c-291 engine, look at the D-27 carburetor. If your's looks like that one, it's a Zenith. Other than that, I wouldn't know how to help.

Went through that with my 2606 with c-263. It had a number disk on the carb but IH couldn't match it up since it was an industrial.

Does yours have the 1 1/4" throat or the 1 3/8" throat? Mine had the larger. Check out the 656 at the caseih parts layout on the web. The IH carbs have that unmistakeable U shape gasket (technically a closed U) above the float bowl where the venturi extends out from one side into the bowl. Then at the end of the venturi are the two small jet/passage holes.

The electric cutout I think is only with the IH carbs. It was there to stop dieseling after shutting off hot tractors that had run all day. I replaced it with a needle, seat, and packing with no problems. Mine had an adjustable cut off switch but the wire and electric guts inside were long gone. The new cut off switch didn't have an adjustment on it.

A pic would help. I think I had to use the 656 as a source of part numbers on mine. The IH-25 book has the specs and the picture.

Or if you go to www.caseih.com and then the two serch for parts screens and then just type in 263 you get the c-263 engine. I didn't know the engines were in there by themselves.

B-32 is a zenith carb. B-34 & B-36 are IH carbs. Let us know.

Best I can figure, mine is a B-36 part number 388297R94 . Hope so . Mine is a 263/ 5 speed, 1967 model Looks the same as picture. Must be an IH
