IH Mower (cont).....how in the heck.....

Thanks for the replies yesterday. I am still looking for an older balanced head mower and have time to pick it up right now if anyone has one in the Great Lakes region including MN. But that is not the real purpose of this post. I see my friend "Steven f/AZ" replied to the post last night with a link to a great discussion and pictures of IH mowers. Amused to see that I was the one who started that discussion he linked me to. It is great owing mostly to the photos Steven put in it...all of which I have saved to my personal archives. What has me mortified is that the link came up in modern view (I only use classic view) and below my name it says "tractor expert". While I have been on this forum for a VERY long time, I think most everyone here knows the real truth behind THAT designation! How, when, why did I become a tractor expert? Maybe at driving or some other aspect but.......

Dave,
If I am not mistaken you get those little titles according to the number of posts you make.
It kinda shows your particiaption on the forums.

I think you get as many points for askin' questions as you do for answering them. Maybe the assumption is that if you ask a lot and get a lot of answers then you know a lot. And you do. Certainly a lot more than you did, right?

Just bask in the glow!

SO....I get the concept but can think of a lot of ways it is skewed. I keep jumping between flattered and embarrassed but, truth be known, after 20+ years of operating them and lots of old equipment (still have all ten fingers!), I am pretty good at that aspect. And if one of MY tractors won't start I can get it going most times without a lot of fuss. I dunno...just hit me strange. I asked the family what they thought but the same thing happens every time I mention the forums. All they want to know is "how's that lobster guy doin?" Young lady clear of the hospital yet? I lost track.

LAwd, son! Jsut wait til you get elevated to guru, you want a burden. A title like that makes it tough to maintain a guru-like detachment and the humility that goes with it. 'Course, knowin' that there's folks in the world that call you the lobster guy helps with that aspect of it. LOL!!

Thank you for askin' about Sweet Pea. She is indeed out of the hospital with her inwards all reconnected. That's been almost two weeks. All seems to be functioning as intended and she gets the staples out tomorrow. She's actually feeling well enough that she's going through the motions of moving out to an apartment with a friend, which only means that she has not yet seen a correlation between that move and no longer having a room here. Not that unusual, I guess. I write it off as a late-growing-up stage thing, compounded by the fact that her new bedroom is not near so capacious as the one here at Casa Karee. ;8^)

Your rank became "Tractor Expert" when you got 1500 posts. It starts out as New User, Regular, Long Time User, Tractor Expert and then when you get 3500 posts, your rank will be Tractor Guru.

Glad to hear she is doing well! I saw the posts while lurking on the Taler board looking for the odd amusement and never heard the outcome. I hope all continues on a good path.

"Lobster guy" kind of evokes some kind of super villain but nothing could be further from the truth around here. You are something like a distant uncle is how I would put it. Just a pleasant memory attached to our B. I doubt any of us will forget it soon.

I have decided to let the rest of the world believe I am a tractor expert. As long as I don't believe it myself, what harm can it do? Something to aspire too!
