H Liftall tied back

Put in an open center spool for the 2 way cylinders and tied the Liftall actuator lever to be always on. Much easier and safer to operate without having to reach for 2 levers. My question is if there is any drawback to having the pump always flowing? Not sure the system is designed to do that but on the other hand it would seem that the pump itself is always turning as long as the clutch is engaged so what would be the harm? Also will it improve the cold weather performance by helping to keep the fluid warmer than if it was just sitting in the belly pump?

On a cold morning it helps to have the clutch in when starting. Wont hurt pump as a live pump runs all the time.

Schwartz 1100 trip loader. May change it over to all hydraulic but don't have the bucket cylinders yet. Line to the spool is on the left front pump outlet. Lines for the up and down actions are from the spool to tee connections splitting to each cylinder connection under the tractor. Return line from the spool to the belly pump via the fluid fill hole with a tee allowing filling of the pump reservoir if need be. Driveway fills in about as fast as I can push the snow back out. Had an auxiliary tank plumbed in but decided that slow response of lift was maybe due to fluid not being able to return quick enough to the pump or that the pump didn't like being so full all the time and needs some air space to function properly. Is working much better now but could also be the 40 degree change in temps? Before taking the external tank off the fluid would turn foamy and couldn't hardly lift even the empty bucket. Today was able to lift fully loaded bucket. Now if I can just get the trip to function correctly when I want/need it to. Like this loader as it is low profile and I can get easy access to fuel the tractor.

The Liftall pumps any time the clutch is out, that lever is just for the valve. Otherwise it is re-circulating within the housing all the time.

Your hook up should be fine, one thing I found though was it is better to return the oil into the drain port at the bottom of the lift all, much less problem with pushing oil out of filler.. I personally would not lock the lever back when not actually using the loader for extended periods of time.

We have run the pump on our H for close to 50 years that way all winter. We had a home made snow plow for it and then ran the buzzsaw lift that way. The double acting valve sat between the throttle lever and the head light. Tank was under the steering shaft on top of the fuel tank with a hose to the valve from the pump then returned to the tank under the steering shaft drained from there to the fill hole with a 3/4 hose.

Figured out why a recent post suggested replacing the original vented cap with a solid plug. Does allow fluid to leak out. What effect would not having the vent available have on operation? Would pressure build up resulting in blown seals or hoses?

Better to just put a tee fitting in the drain hole and keep it vented.
