Anyone know if the wide fronts are all the same on the Farmalls? Number and letter series the same? Wanting to put one on my 300, but not sure what all might fit.
THANKS!

The BASIC MAIN mount to the bolster is the same pattern (4 bolts) on the H through the 450 for sure, maybe even up to the 56 series.

There are differences on the support irons that bolt to the frame farther back between the different frame sized tractors (H thru 350 is narrower than M thru 450). Also, the bolt pattern is different for the steering arm between the sizes of tractor.

I took a front-end off a 450 and put it on my H. Had to make new irons for the rear support to the frame and modify the steering arm to fit my bolt pattern. We measured the bolt pattern on our 1256 for the main mount and it is the same...

NOW, number tractors have a different style of front end vs. the letter series. Letter series had the tie rods out front until the Supers, then the tie rods went behind and the axle was re-designed.

From previous posts they are not all the same. Mainly due to the differences in the steering sector plates (where the narrow fronts bolt on). Believe the H and 350 should bolt up well but suppose the M and 450 could be used if an adapter plate was made.

One more item of note. If you plan on using the hubs from your 300 measure the bearing surfaces on the stub axle. The later M,400 and 450 are bigger than the 300,H,350 and early M. A&I Products carries new steering knuckles for the wide fronts. Also check the bearings on the uprights. When the knuckle on mine broke there were no tapered rollers in the cup. The cup had been put back in packed with grease at sometime before I bought it. That's when I found I had an early M front rather than an H based on the length of the upright.
