Paint scheme on 544

Just wondering what the proper paint scheme was on the 544D hydro. I had mine painted after I bought it, but will be doing some fluid leak fixing this spring and will be repainting it. Currently it is the same as a later 56 series. I thought the front rims should be the IH off white, and rear rims the same. I want it looking as it did in 1970 when it came out. The hood and fender paint is starting to crack up any wy so it needs a redo any way. I sure am not satisfied with the quality of this paint job, and he will not be doing it again. I will be bringing it to "Butch" Kipka of central MN, any one here know him? The first pic is mine before new tires, the 2nd one is of some one elses here on YT, I prefer the scheme on the 2nd.

Several pictures in the "tractor photos" to the left. Front wheels on a row crop tractor as yours is are usually red, utilities are white. Check some of the other photos, The one on yours appears correct to me.

The white grille shell was 1206 only.

Our 544 has the small hub and steel wheel/rim as one piece painted red. Front rims are red as well. Only white is the side panels that have "International" on them.

If anyone knows where we can find the "544 Farmall" and "International" decals, please let me know!
 
Not true on the white cast grill, a select 504s had the white cast grill. Our 544 we painted like a 656 with red wheels on the front, good luck, what ever paint scheme you use I am sure it will look good, my 2 cents.
 

If you're going to paint the grille surround white, then go for the whole 1206 treatment and also do the dogleg panels in white :)

That would look pretty neat, but it wouldn't be "correct." Everything should be red except the grill screen (black) and the white stripe down the sides. Doglegs are correct red.
 
I thin I know where a whole tractor is that they would sell the emblems( metal) off. I'll stop there and see. I passed on the tractor at an auction, sold for $1500. Foolish me.

You can get the decals new from your case ih dealer. I have a 1971 656 i just did and i got the decals from my case ih dealer and they are just like the originals. If you want the metal ones they are not avialible ,unles you can find used ones. I know in 1971 they just used decals.

"International" decals, yes. "656" decals, yes. "544 Farmall" decals, nope.

its got a little better than "farm" paint on it. it is my work tractor. snow plow, mow, etc..
i had to replace the block/rebuild motor, new front tire/rims, added rear weights, new seat/steering wheel, used emblems from a buddy(i got real lucky),pto sheild,toplink, and some odds and ends. now I need to get a canopy, fix a small hyd. leak and find an"Euzkadi" tire to match the one in the pic. I may get around to a resto someday, but i'll do my 1206 1st.
