I have inherited 2 Super A's and interested in dating them. Is there a number somehwere on the tractor that I can use?

Serial number tags should be on the left seat support. You can use the "Serial Numbers" link to the left of this page to look them up.

One common mistake is that people think the serial numbers listed to the left are the ONLY numbers for a particular year. This is incorrect. What is listed is the FIRST serial number for a particular year. Each tractor has a unique serial number.

Chassis serial number should be stamped on a plate riveted on the inside rear of the left seat support. Engine serial number will be on a flat machined spot on the right side of the engine block, just under the #1 (foremost) plug. Might be obscured by gunk and the governor control rod.

Link to the left will take you to chassis serial numbers.

Serial # should be on left side of clutch housing. There is also a number on the engine block just above the hydraulic pump.Right at the top of the block just below the cylinder head.If it is the original engine block you can date the tractor using that number.

Collins: All Super A serial numbers are on inside of left seat support. tag in under the seat. Engine and chassis will be same or very close up to serial number 310300. After that a spread develops and by 1954 engine numbers are 2,000 higher than chassis number.

Here's the plate with the serial number on my SA. A former owner painted over it, but from the right angle, I can see the numbers no problem.
It's a 1949. Same as me.
