I'm test running my rebuilt C-123 with a jumper wire from starter switch to coil. It fires right up with great spark, but then I lose all spark at times, even at the points. I rebuilt the distributor, all new points, plugs, condensor, wires, coil, etc. Everything is clean & tight. I've been able to fiddle with it - clean points, jiggle wires & it comes back, but I'm not sure what I did. This process keeps repeating itself. Almost has to be a bad connection or the coil??

Thanks,

Doug

First check would be in the distributor--look for any connections/ wires that might touch the case- causing a ground situation. Second check should be the feed-through bolt on the side of the distributor housing. this has the short wire attached coming from the coil. Inside the distributor housing, the movable point contact is connected to it. Should be electrically isolated from the distributor case [not grounded]. One other possibility is a bad condenser--even new ones can be faulty.

Try reinstalling the points and condenser----some times that spring isn't quite clear of all grounds, especially at the terminal post or the condenser wire got pinched somewhere. You will only see these problems if you pull and reinstall.Or just try new ones. Good luck...
