Super M Water Pump

How tight do you tighten the packing nut on the water pump to prevent leaking. Currently, old packing leaked tightened nut, still leaked. Re packed with ne w packing, still leaks. I am using OEM packing, but still get the leak. It only leaks when the tractor is shut off. When running it is fine. Any ideas, thoughts or suggrestions would be appreciated.

I had the same problem on my Super H, with both IH packing and the graphite coated string I got at NAPA. Tightened the nut "snug" repeatedly, same results as yours. Eventually it stopped. So, my advice is to keep an eye on it and wait a while. I even replaced the pump on mine, it did not help at all.
