Went To See A Super A With Fast Hitch Hoping It was an A1

The ad said Super A. The picture visually whispered to me: "Hey, I am a Super A with a fast hitch and the hitch helper return spring!". The picture was shot from a distance and a low resolution. My heart said it is an A1!! My head said, umm, I'm not so sure.

I drove to see it hoping to see a Super A1 awaiting restoration. However, it was for naught. The serial number was 264720. The gas tank was flat against the hydraulic section. There was no water pump and the front cowl was standard Super A. I figure this Super A was later retrofitted with a fast hitch. But just in case my assumption is wrong and that this Super A came from the factory with a fast hitch, I ask the following question. Does anyone know if the fast hitch option was available at the time of this tractor's manufacture?

Everything I`ve ever seen or read on the subject says the 1 pt. fast hitch was first introduced on the 100 .It seems to me that there was a fellow on here a while back who said his SuperA-1 came with the fast hitch from the factory, could be I suppose.I have a dealers price list from 1954 that lists all options available and their cost to dealer and retail cost. It doesn`t list the fast hitch as an option in the price list.
P.S. The price list covered the Super series only.

Bill: The fast hitch was never available until 1954. There is evidence a few of them made it to Super A. I suspect it was dealers with SA left on their lot, and they fitted it with fast hitch. Once the 100 was out with fast hitch, there was a bit of,"I'll take the SA if I can get fast hitch".

Bill, Hugh, Mark, Jimmy: Thanks for the replies and information. The single point fast hitch is a sweet piece of technology. I grew up using a fast-hitch 140 in the late 1960s and currently have a 1959 model 140 with fast-hitch. It is so easy to switch implements compared to hooking up stuff with my 3-point tractor.

So now we are back to square one in the search for a bargain basement A1.

Thanks for your help today.
