someone told me that the old or early m up to 1942 were longer than the ones up to 1952. he said about 2 inches. Is this true?

No help on 1952, but if this of any use, my 1949 M & MV manual shows overall length as 133 1/3 inches and 1954 SMTA manual shows 145 inches.
Original manuals delivered with tractors.

No - an M is an M is an M. When you get to a Super M-TA in 1954, and only in 1954, THEN they get a little longer.
