I have a short parts "wish list" was looking for some advice:

1. the shaped rubber air intake hose just before the carb, mine is disintegrating, and don"t want to slowly harm the engine by using that thing anymore

2. the piece of thick sheet metal just under the battery tray, which bolts on, and covers the area just in front of and above the transmission, mine is destroyed by years of battery acid I guess.

i got one of these, brand new, from my local Case-IH dealer - it was $60 or thereabouts. I think they still make it - guess everyone has similar problems with it, battery acid for me too.

The bad part of having a shiny new part on my 330U is that i've got to paint the rest of the tractor now!

* edit to clarify:

CAP ASSEMBLY, clutch housing top cover 364891R91 is what i got for the 330U - thinking it should be the same for the 300. See attached photo with arrow to #7

Checkout the Case-IH parts site @ https://webparts.pvassociates.net/cnh/launch.php?DealerID=PVA-9SYXB-5VB3&DataSet=001CSIH

Yes, almost the same, my number is:
COVER, clutch housing top (Order package, 364897R91) (For International 300 Utility Tractor) (S/N 501 to 19927)
Almost the same as yours

Thanks for showing me that link, I am pretty new to working on old tractors

They also show my hose:
14 1 361978R1 HOSE ELBOW, carburetor to air cleaner

Pretty easy stuff if you know where to look, right

Thanks for the help

I had to get the carb intake hose for my 300U , but it was 361978R1 and cost $27. I just looked at Messicks site and found that the parts lookup for the 300U didn't show all of the parts diagrams, but the 350U did, hmm. But you can enter a part number if you already know it. If you would rather talk to a parts person on the phone, http://www.external_link does mail order and one of the parts guys has authored books on the history of IH tractors.

Thanks I look forward to making some improvements to this old tractor. Would love to get it looking like new but I guess that is hardly practical.

wow $40 including shipping from Messicks, don't see that happening. Will have to try to fabricate one.
$13 shipping is too much, I hate that crap

I usually make an order of a bunch of parts at a time to get the most out of the shipping charge. I have a ton of money in just seals and gaskets. Try pricing a tie rod end, if you want a sticker shock.

Oh, I know I am just being nitpickey. I am getting cheaper as I get older, and I am only 44...

I bought an elbow hose at NAPA and cut it to fit, perfect fit. Now on to looking at the steering box. Mine is not as loose as I have read about on this forum tonight, but I would still like to see if I can tighten it up some.

I wish I knew of someone around here in NE Oklahoma with a real nice 300U that I could look at to see exactly how things are supposed to be.
