converting H to 3point hitch W /hydraulics

converting my H to 3 point hitch with 2 way hydraulics. I dont really like the conversion
kit for 900.00. I would rather fabricate my own
stuff.My question is about the bracket under
the belly pump. what was it used for, and ... I
havent seen any reference to the 2 outlets on
the left side of the case, just the one outlet
on the right, for the hydraulics. I can add a
reservoir for oil then run back to the drain drain plug for the return. I really would like to see a pic of what ever used to attach to that
bracket on the bottom of that belly pump.
 
The front hydraulic outlet on the left side gives the same flow and pressure as the one on the right side. The rear port on the left side is a "delayed" port that was timed to lift the rear gang of the cultivators at the same place the front ones were lifted when traveling in 4th gear. We used to use the same setup on the M to raise the planter with the rear port at the same place we picked up the harrow mounted between the tractor and planter.
I think the bracket under the pump was used in mounting a sickle bar mower that ran ahead of the rear wheel. Not certain of that.
 
A sopport rod to hold one end of the lift cyl. for the rear section of the 444(I think that is the Mod# for that cult.) attatched there. I would not attatch the 3pt. to that bracket. Use the 3 bolts of the swingind drawbar bracket(like on the 560 fasthitch) or run angle brackets to the side rails at the bellhousing. Post some pictures as you build this hitch if possible. Armand
 
That bracket under the belly pump also had something to do with the 2 row, front mount cultivator. I'd think twice before using it for anything related to a homemade 3 point. Might not be strong enough, and the bolts that mount the belly pump to the tractor are not very big.
 
Thank you gentlemen, I will mount the 3 point
hitch on the axle housing.My H doesnt have
fenders. I thought the bracket went up into
the belly pump and maybe was a part of the
hydraulics. 1st mission on my part is to
put a gauge on the outlets and see how much
pressure I have to play with. Does anybody
know how much horsepower the PTO puts out?
The entire plan is to operate a rear tiller.

The rear facing port is NOT delayed! It is only delayed if using the optional delay valve that was once available from your friendly IH dealer. ALL of the ports are fed from the same spot in the pump housing.
 
If by bracket, you mean the holes on each side at the bottom of the housing, those accepted curved rods that ran up to the hydraulic cylinders. We used them to lift a semi-mounted plow. There is no reason to use that setup on a three point if that is what you mean. Put the cylinder on the 3 point and run a hose to it. The rods were for a lifting mechanism and were not made to pull a load of any kind. I assume you do not mean a heavy duty bracket attached to the sides of the clutch housing, not to the belly pump--that was used to do the main pulling of the semi-mount plow.
 
I agree, I have Saginaws on my Super H and C. Your pictures remind me that before the age of 3 points that the installation is exactly the same as we had to do for ALL rear mounted implements.
 
I'll take your word for them sometimes not being delayed. I have a '43H, a '49M, and a late '52SM that came from the factory with a delay on that port.
 
I will second the Saginaw hitch being a good one. I have an H also and put one on it. I just run it 1 way and have no problems unless the oil in the pump is very cold it is slow to go down. If I lift some heavy logs it will warm up though. With the 2 cyls it won't twist the pivot bar like can happen with single cyl types. I also have an M that has an old aftermarket 1 cyl 3 point and 2 way and it could be a real pain on uneven ground/ I turned the bushog into a rotary tiller several times and bent the mower hitch. It also made grading a tough job with constant adjusting. The Saginaw hitch does have a float abillity but since I am only running 1 way I haven't needed it yet. As far as the belly pump goes, there was 2 pressures availible one as an option or upgrade kit I think was something like 800 or 900 psi and the factory one was about 500-600 or there abouts. Not sure which one I have, but it will lift a bunch with the boom pole and pick the front wheels of the tractor off the ground with real big logs. I haven't had a need for a reservoir yet but if you use a loader or something like that you might need one.
 
That bracket was used for lister type planters and things that were related to that type of farming. Use the pumps res you now have for hy oil. The left side rear plug is for reartooling that was delayed on raising up when you came to the end. Front plug is same as the one on the right side as each one would have been used with a cult with rear tooling and lots of other attachments for the tractor.

This is another of those old-wives tales.

The "delay" on that left rear-facing port is in the drop, not the lift. Hence, the reason for the detent on the "lowering" side of the lever.

However, all three ports are plumbed to the same pressure feed for lifting.

In order to get a delay on any of the ports, an external restrictor has to be used in the line.

I could be wrong, but on my Ms,and on the Hs Ive had that port doesnt lift as fast as the others do.I remeber cultivating with my Ms, and they both came up at the same time, but the rears didnt come up as fast.

does look beefy.Regaurdless I thank you all for your help. Does anybody know the horse power of
the PTO? I spent many hours pulling a disc set
and a spreader and an old timey cycle mower, just
cutting weeds and of course hay wagons. That was
growing up on the farm. We had 6 other tractors
to work with. I found this old jem on the side of
the road,bought it for old time sake. The 3 point
hitch is just a thought to use her instead of
