Farmall H all fuel sediment bowl

I ordered one of those all fuel bowls from OEM and the fuel ports do not match up to what I had. Anyone get one of these and make it work? Some kind of elbow maybe?

Did you make a new steel fuel line to the carb?
Can't you just put the proper bend in that to line up with this new bowl?

I had one from my 1940 H that was just like your original (sold it), so I know the new one is wrong.

Can you rebuild the original?

Not sure if I trust the threads Rusty, they look messed up. I don't want to fight leaks.
Oh and BTW the carb was seeping by the drain plug and and defying gravity and going up the carb, that threw me off thinking it was coming from the top. Put some sealer on it and all is well.

you may be able to chase the treads and use some teflon tape on the old housing to get a good seal. napa should have the 90 degree fitting for the bowl housing. if you have a sandblaster, load it with baking soda and blast the housing with that to clean it up, far less aggresive media, then rob the parts from the new bowl assembly.
btw, i may go up to 151 in small unmarked bills, and a lint covered sourball!!!!

I don't know of any elbows that go on the sediment bowl. I have the original sediment bowl/starting tank/lines and it looks like your aftermarket one is not make right. I think Steiner sells those sediment bowls and if I remember right, I think they say you need to use brass elbows/fittings to make it work. If your old one is still in okay shape, take it apart, clean it up and put in new packing & seals and re-use it and send the new one back to OEM.

your original sediment bowl was from a 1939 or early 1940 model that had the sediment bowl on the small disolate tank. Them main tank had just a shut off valve with a line that fed into the bowl.

I think if I were you, I would e-mail OEM about the problem and attach your picture to your e-mail. See what they have to say. They are supposed to be IH parts experts so I would think they could help you. The one that is on our H is like your original one, so it is either the wrong part or there is some adapter set up you need that they should know about.

I did call them up and they are aware of it, it does fit certain tractors. They said to check back with them later for a solution or I could send it back.

permatex 81668 thread repair can work to repair threads. except for tapered pipe thread situations.
i believe that the original sediment bowl did not use tapered pipe thread, but a straight (standard brake line) thread with a ferrule on the end of the fuel line. Lines with ferrules or inverted flare ends do not need thread sealant to seal, as the sealing is done at the ferrule or flare--provided the correctly mated fittings are used.
