Engine number on My Super A is 2510690R1
Engine number on Super C with broke block is 354898R1....Will the sleeves from the Super C fit the Super A?....I guess I could answer this question by pullin' the head from the Super C but I'd rather leave the block closed up if the sleeves won't fit, it is easy to lose stuff in My shop, always find it when I come in with a new replacement part.

I got the crankshaft pulley off, came off fairly easely...I built a setup simular to BigDogs...Used a Porta Power instead of a jack.I'll try to get "THEWIFE" to post photos when She gets in. Thanks for all the replys concernin' "pullin' the pullies"

Thanks

Don't know how to edit....just noticed the Super A number has an extra zero....Should be 251069R1

Wild Bill, I don't have my book handy but the answer is no unless your SA is a 1954 SA1. All other SA's used the C-113 block and the OD of sleeve is different. Most all other parts are interchangeable.

Bill: Block number 251069 was used in all Farmall C and Super A up until serial number 310299. Block number 354898 was used in all Super C and Super A after serial number 310300. the sleeves will not interchange between block 251069 and 354898. In this case don't concern yourself about R1 or R2, etc., those just indicate casting runs. If the first 6 digits are the same block is the same.

George; Not completely right, all Super A after serial number 310300 used block 354898, same block as super C. The difference is sleeve thickness. That 310300 Super A happened about same time as first Super C was built. The Super A with thicker sleeves remained 3" bore, while the Super C was 3-1/8" bore. That same block can be fitted with 3-1/4" bore sleeves and pistons. Block 354898 was also used in 100 and 200, and is the only block in that group with 3 different bore sleeves available.

The blocks used in 130, 230, 140 and 140 only have a 3-1/8" bore sleeve available. The blocks before 1951 can also be fitted with 3-1/8" bore as well as 3" bore. All sleeve kits are specific to a particular block number. A and B used block 6342 DH, C and early SA used block 251069, Super C and late SA, all 100 and 200 used block 354898, 130 and 230 used block 366204 and 140 and 240 used block 367825.

Well, Guess I'm facein' a "DE LIMMER" as some folks would say it. My 251069 Super A block is good, I doubt if the crank could be turned so if I rebuild it , it needs everything includin' crank, rods, pistons, rings, sleeves, cam and cam bearin's, head worked over...etc..Super C block layin' on the shop floor....completly gone thru 50 or so hours (3 years )ago before the old gentleman broke it. It has a 240 head on it , when We loaded the engine the old Man said "Damm, I hated breakin that engine, I pulled that tractor a menya time, never was beat".
So what do I do now.....I've got a 240 UTILITY..engine is weak. Could I put the Super C guts in the 240 block and put it in My Super A.
I need this Super A runnin'in time to truckpatch this spring.But....I've got a strong A.....ARMSTRONG LIFT, just not as handy as a Super A. I use My 504 Diesel to plow disc and subsoil....Hard to beat an A and a Super A for cultivatein'

My apoligies Mr.Mc Kay.....I missed seein' the 240 in Your reply the first time I read it. Now, if I'm on the right track I can use everything from the Super C except the sleeves and pistons?

Thanks,
Wild Bill

Bill: There is also another little kink with 140 or 240, due to the fan hub water pump the head is different from all the others. I do know you have to use 140 or 240 water pump if using a 140 or 240 head, then your next problem is shroud and radiator not being right height for fan.

There are ways to overcome some of this. There is a guy used to post here quite regularly, Stan 22xx something. He has encountered this situation and can tell you exactly what you can and can not do.
