113-123 heads

Are the heads between a c113 and c123 interchangeable? I am
repowering a super A that had a 113 in it w/ a 123 that doesn't
have a head. I would like to have the head rebuilt soon as I am
hopefully getting the 123 block soon. Either way, I will need a good
head so will go ahead with the rebuild if they interchange.

If the 113 is from a distillate tractor, (extra hole in the hood or gas starting tank where the hole is) (check part numbers at caseih.com search for parts) I would use a gasoline only head (either 113 or 123 with domed pistons). JimN

Make sure to get the right head gasket. If your 113 is thermo siphon instead on having a water pump you need the gasket for the 113. If it has a water pump you need the 123 gasket.

They will interchange if the 123 is one of the earlier ones (up through 130/230 tractors). I don't think they will mix with the newer 123s.

Jim: Correct, the head changed after 130-230 production. A head from a 140-240 will not interchange with the others, and it's due to fan mounting. 140 and 240 used a fan hub water pump. He could change the fan and water pump, however the radiator and shroud will require modification.
