Farmall A and BN

Bought a Farmall A and a BN to help out a friend. Not a Farmall guy here. I rarely see any ad's for A's or BN's The A is more of a parts tractor, still intact just missing carb, easy take offs etc. BN runs great with a Woods finish mower. Are these rare? Thinking about selling the A just don't know its value. Any help is appreciated. Tom

Nothing especially rare about As, Bs or BNs.

BN could be considered the least common of the three, but by no means rare. In round numbers, there were about one BN (15K) built to 5 (75K) Bs. Basic As, there were about 117+K built. Add on the variations of the A (International, AV, SuperS . . .) and that number gets bigger.

Still, there could be some interesting stuff on any of them. An early one of either might have a troque tube with no bulge and hole for a starter, or Dzus fasteners for the tin. An early one might also have the mechanical shutoff for the magneto instead of the grounding switch . . . The cutoff numbers for switching on things like that vary, but any of those tractors with a serial number below 60,000 would be worth looking at for those types of things.

Not rare, 117000+ A's and about 15000 BN's produced. 75000 of the "regular" B which is has longer rear axles.

LOL!

Didn't we have about four of us jump on something the other day and have all the responses hit within a minute or two?

I"d be willing to help you out further, if you"d like to let go of the BN. That is, if you"re fairly close to NC.

I'm near Pittsburgh. I kinda of like the BN and am thinking of keeping it a while, at least through this summer. Not sure what I really want to do with it. Don't want to try to restore the A, would rather see someone get it that wants to do something with it. I probably will post it for sale soon.

Thanks for the info, I just never see this up for sale anywhere.

Judging by the description of the A so far, it's not worth more than a few hundred dollars. Not running, missing parts... If the engine is free, tires usable, and it looks decent, maybe $400. Rusty and decrepit on rotten tires, maybe $200.

(quoted from post at 04:16:38 01/05/09) TMEBA, I am also near Pittsburgh, and might be interested in the A. How can I get a hold of you?

Hello Tom, I'm near the airport. Do you have an email address i can contact you at?

Thanks, Tom here too.

Ya, thats what i was thinking. bought them as a pair one price. not looking to get rich just dont want to lose any either.

Tom, I would possibly be interested in the A. I might also be able to help out with parts for the BN. Let me know.
