Starter for an F14

With a little help from Fawteen's pictures I have a good way to add electric start to my F14. It is not of course factory original parts, in fact most of them I am having to fabricate.

The problem I have run into is matching a ring gear and starter. Locating a ring gear that would even work proved to be a challenge in itself, but I have located 2. Dimensionally both would work. The starter however is proving to be more a challenge.

The ring gear I would prefer to use is from a 30's model IHC truck. A C5 or D5. Anyone have a lead as to find what starter went with this truck. (I am hoping Delco, as they seem to be easiest to mix and match parts) None of the auto parts stores in my area even have a listing for it, and after much searching on the internet I have not had much luck.

Anyone's input would be a great help.

Doug, I have installed lots of starters on F12 amd F20s, if you want it to start and are not worried about factory the best way I have found to do it is to use a flex plate off an S 10 chevy truck bolt it and center it on the engine transmission coupling fabricate a mount from the trans, or bell houseing depending on your preferance and light the old girl up!

I have considered that option, and may in fact end up going that route. I would rather do it off the flywheel if I can put all the stuff together to do it.

from what i know is that the ihc D50 truck from the thirtys is supposed to have the FBB engine that was put into the WK40 . i believe it was delco but not totaly sure.a while back someone said that the J.D.B starter fit the WK40.i am looking for that engine. kind of off your topic but thats my bit of input, but were in the same vintage.

ive got a WK-40 with electric start on it and can prolly get the Delco tag numbe roff it for you. Its a 3 bolt starter, not a 2 bolt. I know they used the FBB engine in the larger trucks up to the KB series. Same block as the Red Diamond engines, thats why the swap is so easy. If you could find a ring gear from one of those trucks, you would be in business
