Fast Hitch conversion prongs

Hi, I'm looking for a source for a pair of the conversion prongs (for 300U) that have the upwards curve for more lift. I see a pair on ebay for $299, but that price seems high. I see a conversion kit with them in the Yesterdays Tractor store, but I don't need the whole kit.

Cub149: Send me an e mail also, and since my e mail is open, you'll probably get to me first. I have what your looking for.

did you know they are availible so you can rotate the ends of the prongs up and down as needed ? i have 2 sets like that . they are for my 240 and 300

bil b va, I did see the ones that have the balls offset, not centered. That would be my second choice and should work fine. Usually what happens though is that I would buy them, then find some impliment that I need more lift on, and then have to buy the curved ones too.

Rick, I found a link on the classic view to a form that I used to contact Hugh. Emails seem to be hidden and pm's aren't working either.

Rick: This is how it works on Classic View, you must fill in e address under you name in the post. I'm not clear but think you have to check box for e mail notification.

By doing those two items, I know my e mail is always open, and I get e mail notification from YT every time someone responds to any of my posts, excepting of course, the modern view guys. It was really a better system, and Kim should have explained it better. I find it hard to believe there are folks like your self that don't know this.

I also happen to believe that no one should be allowed to take part in a public forum without exposing their e address. Plain and simple either put up or shut up.

I agree with you, Hugh. My email is always open as well. Moreover, I am not afraid to use my name. I have frequently indicated where I live when that information is relevant to the context of my post.

I don't know why most participants here think that their identity is so precious. They must be criminals or are afraid of being victimized by one. No one has ever harrassed me or harvested my email address.

I have to laugh when I see someone posting for a part and there is no indication of who they are or where they are located. A state would be enough. So be it.

I know you like hitches so here's one for you.

Wardner: I really can't understand why Kim doesn't make name and e address compulsory. My thinking, it would reduce her liability for some of the things we say. Making a statment on a public forum is not a lot different then seeking public office. Once you do it, your game in open season. I always said if one can't stand the heat, he best get out of the kitchen.

You may have a point, bounty hunters might just be looking for some of these guys. I'd rather believe most are afraid of invasion of their privacy, at least I hope I'm right. I suppose another possibility is the Tax Man may just be monitoring who's buying, selling, how much they grow, how well the crop did, etc.

When all is said and done, I firmly believe if name and e address were compulsory, we'd see fewer vicious attacks, fewer nonsence posts, etc.

I like that hitch, and have been thinking of something similar should I ever build another snow blade.

So, from Kerwood ON to the Boston States, Happy New Year. Boston States is what Cape Bretoners called MA, back in the 1930s.

That $299 price is too high.

I know of two shops in my area (MA) that specialize in torch cutting steel. All they need is a template, a sample, or full size drawing to reproduce the tongs. The drawing would look like the picture in this post.

If you look at the picture I posted on the other post in this thread, you will see two 1" thick arms that I subbed out to one of the shops. It cost me $25 for cutting the pair last year. I furnished the steel. The materials for tongs shouldn't cost more than $50: probably less.

Having a local shop cut them may be the least expensive way to go. I have the fast hitch drawbar to sample for the pointed end, and the outer end would be easy. I'll have to check the phone book for machine and metal supply shops.

Cub 149,

Have them make three or four sets out of a length of 1" x 3" flat bar. You supply the steel.

When you know how much offset you need, stick a pair into a press brake and bend them. That's how IH did it. They can even be bent the "hard way" with a rosebud heating torch. I have done it.

If you wind up with too many sets, sell them on eBay. You will be able to recover the cost of the tongs that you use. Chances are you will keep them so that you can convert other 3pth implements.

Wardner, that front mounted 2 point hitch is ingenious. You've got me interested in building one for my tractors.

Wardner: I have 3 large hitch forks I cut out of 1-1/4" by 3" cold roll steel. Those cost me close to $100. each 20 years ago. The guy that cut these for me wouldn't do it with mild steel. Bear in mind one point fast hitch does have a side draft factor. He told me he had cut a couple for a guy with 140, from mild steel and he bent them side ways.

I have a 6'cultivator my own fabrication built with modern day s-tines. One of my fabricated forks are on this cultivator. It does take heavy shock if the cultivator strikes heavy going on one side and at 5.5 mph. I have not bent any of the cold roll forks. I forget the exact dollars but cold roll did add quite a bit to cost. Photo attached

Rick: I wouldn't go so far as to say that, you were looking for ways to make it happen. YT have never put out good directions on how to do this. Now they have a bigger mess trying to blend modern and classic.

Wardner and I were on the case of the hundreds too cowardly to post their e address. Maybe Wardner was right, just maybe they are all criminals being hunted.

Hugh
I actually was a little confused on using the classic ....it was never really explained....
I tend to prefer the modern one due to the fact i've used that format on other forums for years.....

Regarding the prongs...I have a set I use for my 560....I would like to build a chisel plow ...about 6 shanks...with 2 pt prongs...is the springs on them necessary?? ..think I can build it cheaper than I can find one...plus ones I find are way too many shanks...100+ hp tractor stuff...

Have you converted any 560's to 3 pt ??....mine has about worn out and I have a piece of casting broken on the tractor belly bolt hole on the front of the hitch...I thought about fabing one next winter ....only 2 pt item I have is a moldboard plow....
Thanks ....Dave (re:name --- username is my nickname :p )

Clefus: Awhile back there was a photo of a 3 point conversion on a 560. All he saved of the fast hitch was the lift cylinder and rockshaft. Then he fabricated a drawbar and attached lower links much the same position as on 656 or 706. I forget the details, you might find it in the archives. I just don't remember the title or who the author was.

Thanks
I'll do a search tomorrow....during lunch....i think I can build something if I see a pic....my cylinder is good but the rockshaft had been welded before.plus other fixes ive done including remaking a lower cylinder bracket.... ....I love the 2 pt but the entire system is just worn out..period....plus I can buy newer equipment to overhaul...
