F130 Transmission

Guys,
I have started into the 130. Pulled the rear tires off yesterday. The tranny is all opened up. I am planning to swap out the oiler gear, some axle seals, bearings etc...
Looks like I will have to do a rear split? Will the shaft come right out of the clutch spline after I seperate the trans from the torque tube? Or will I have to work through the hand holes to remove anything else?
I don"t have a real good service manual for this 130. The manual I have is for the Farmall C, which looks to be pretty much the same tranny.

One word of good advise, find a good local bearing house and get your bearings and seals from them. you will save a TON of money over auto parts stores and the IH dealer. I did get the gaskets from IH. If you don't have one near you call "Coldwell Inc". in Terre Haute IN. Just give them the bearing numbers off the bearings and they will set you up right.

The clutch shaft will split at the front of the tranny. Remove two of the four bolts and they are tapered and the clutch shaft can be unhooked. You mite want to replace the rubbers when you reassemble.

Thanks Gene,
I am planning to make a stand with wheels to hold up the tractor before removing the transmission. The front axle is wedged so the front does not tip left or right.

Here"s the plan.

1. Remove the final drives.
2. disconnect anything else that is connected to the tranny.
3. Unbolt tranny from torque tube and pull it out.

Sounds fun!

Bob,
Thanks for the advice.
I've got a bearing store nearby to talk to about this rebuild.
