Is this true that IH built H's in 53 with disc brakes and only 300 built. I saw this in the Red Power magazine, November December issue?

1st serial was 391358, last H was 391730, or 373. that still does not make that H worth the selling price, or at least not to me.

Can't say exactly how many left the factory myself, but serial # 391358 and higher are supposed to be equiped with disc brakes. Serial 391730 was the last H made.

Don't believe too much of those statistics, there were Farmall H being sold with IH disc brakes as early as 1951. My dad bought one new in April 1951, and it was IH disc brakes as all the parts would interchange with our 1955 Farmall 300.

As I see it there could have been 25,000 or more Hs left the factory with IH disc brakes.

Band brakes are (opinion) less troublsome, and stronger. I would retrofit bands to a SH if I could reasonably do so. JimN

Short answer is the differential carriers and bull pinion gear shafts have to be changed along with all other attaching parts. Not to simple.
