O/T Avery Model A Help

Attached is a picture of my youngest son and his 19xx (50 something?) BF Avery Model A. Picture was taken right after I pulled it from the barn. Yes it is an Avery, it's really red, but was painted yellow because it's what was available when it needed paint. It has factory foot brakes and hydraulic. It ran when parked in the barn, however it has set 30+ years. I can't find out too much about them any help? I'm going to fill the cylinders with PB Blaster and park in under roof till spring. Manifold says "Hercules". I just want to get it to run, so he cam play with it.

I've had really good luck with putting Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders. Let it set a week or so and see if she's loose.

engine most likely is an IXB 3 machine seriel number should be stamped in the top plate of the right framerail, mine was at the very rear it took me 2 days of removing paint to find it. the engine nameplate should be on the right side, just abofe the oil pan in front of the clutch housing. theres info on this site for dating the machine with the SN. im currently working on one also, same situation. had sat for a long time and was seized up. i had penetrating oil in the cylinders for a month to no avail, i removed the engine and put it on a stand, turned it over and pulled the oil pan off, ive been soaking the underside of the pistons with penetrating oil. i may be moving tword more drastic measures in the coming weeks. its good to know im not the only one working on one.

I would fill the cylinders with ATF. Have you looked at their web site? Hal

Thankfully this one has oil in the pan, I might try a cocktail of ATF and PB Blaster. I'll try to look for numbers tonight.

Save your self a bunch of money and use ATF. Does as good or better job and will cost you about 1/3 of what PB will cost. You should post this down in the Oliver forum since Oliver took them over way back when or was that MM that took them over. Any how ATF works wonders on things like stuck engines and sticking rings and is pretty cheap compared to the other stuff

:p Glad I am not the only one who is tring to but life back in one of these.
The one I got is a 1946 Model A. Lot harder to work on than F20s I have been around for last 35 years. Only draw back is getting parts.
OT - Currently looking for oil filter canister with lines or picture of line routing.
