Letter and hundred series seat springs. Originally they produced three weight capacities, topping out at 220lbs.

Anybody know what the aftermarket replacement springs are rated for?
 
OEM uses the IH part number for the heaviest one for their replacement. I know I put one on my SuperC and my 175# doesn't set it down much at all.
 
Skinny little fellar, eh? Must not eat your own cooking! Is that weight per spring or in total? I have a hard time believing you would have to be less than 220# to ride a tractor in the 1950's. Some of these brawney farm boys would be in trouble. Still waitin to hear what the holiday menu was....
 
Well, originally, there were three different springs available, one each for what our friends at IH delicately referred to as either light, medium or heavy weight operators.

The key to weight control is moderate portions of tasty stuff. Dinner was about three ribs worth off the small end of a standing rib roast, whipped garlic potatoes, string beans, stewed tomatoes, gravy and fresh yeast rolls. And one of my chocolate creme and raspberry pies. Yum, yum!
 
The replacement springs I get from A&I and Tisco are the heavy duty springs that are rated for heavy duty meat and potato consumers like me.
 
I've known some ol boys that ... well...let's just say they are big'uns. They used 2 springs 1 nested inside the other. It worked well and at 250# myself thinking strongly about it.
 
I'm about 280lbs and have two salvage yard springs tucked in there. They deflect just shy of halfway with me on it or just about right. They take a while to settle in and not make noise. I didn't put the pad back in the top plate under the seat. I have the seat with the rear shock (that I can't recall the name of) on my M. It was kind of a chore to wrap those springs together and get them to fit. ...Randy
