See one listed at auction this Sat. in Ohio, does anyone know the real story on this model? The listing is in auctionzip Mike Lozier auctioneer.

Mark: Correction, the only thing H is the sheet metal and steering wheel - light bar pedistal and hydraulics. The engine, clutch assembly and front bolster are very much 300 or 350.

That is what I initialy thought. But how about back then when they were changing models the designers must of played around. We see it show up time to time. For instance in the new old abe;s news on page 21 shows a picture of a prototype VAC. I was brought up in a Case family that started selling them in the 30;s and I never seen anything come across the desk on it. There must be someone around yet from the H-300 days that can give us some input.

SHTA is sorta like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny if you want to believe in them you can.

Fred, you can disbelieve all you want but it's been confirmed by researchers and people who worked for IH, plus it's been discussed ad nauseum.

IH never took the Super HTA beyond prototype/test mule stage, and the prototype was destroyed.

The only Super HTAs in existence are customized, much in the same way car collectors make "Hemi-Cudas" by putting a hemi engine in a regular Barracuda. Various parts of a 300 and Stage II Super H are combined to create a Super HTA.

It is not a "fake" tractor, contrary to what some people say. It's a real tractor. You can touch it, drive it, use it.

Anything is posiable, but think your going to find a non IH built one. Ones that are done nice use a early 300 transmission and T/A unit. Shift forks are modified so that the SH transmission cover will work. Little work done at T/A housing to make SH hydraulic unit mount. All other parts used from a stage 2 SH. Real looking serial tag for SHTA made up along with decals. If they don't change casting date codes or grind off, the only thing that gives it away is later in year 54 date codes than normal for a 54 SH on transmission, T/A housing ETC. Some are also made with parts that are easy to tell.

Fred is partially right. IH did play around with the idea of a HTA. I believe Guy Fay has provided some pictures of the "Torque Tube" that was developed. However, it did not look like the HTAs that are being built by the customizers.
I believe the best description would be a "Customized H with a TA."
PS: Likewise, I see a lot of tractors described as "F-20 with electric start." These are also customized -- IHC never offered an electric start for the F-20.

They have all been custom made. We should all get in the business. I saw one sell in Illinois 4 years ago. Brought a little over 20,000. It looked very nice.

The HTA is the tractor that would've been built if an actual FARMER had been consulted before releasing the 300 to [on?] the marketplace. Folks who bought the 300 and had the phillips-head screws that held the sheet metal in place either rim out, or had the caged nuts break loose, would've GLADLY swapped for an H hood and grille.
