C vs. Super C Fenders

What is the different between Farmall C and Super C fenders? Anytime I see Super C fenders advertised, they mention key hole. What is that for? I always thought the fenders were basically the same.

Essentially they are the same except the Super C fenders had a keyhole about an inch and a half wide by two inches high in the cast iron part of the fender (the part the U bolt goes through that sits on the axle housing) and the C had no keyhole. Either fender will fit either tractor.

I`ve been around Super C`s a long time and I don`t recall ever seeing an implement or accessory that used that keyhole for a passageway or whatever. Maybe someone else on here has a more definitve answer on the purpose of it.

Unless someone knows better, I think that notch has something to do with mounting fast hitch hardware. Someone with a fast hitch on a Super C can verify this. Or a fast hitch sickle mower?

I collect Super C fast hitch implements ,must have at least 15 to 20 or so different ones, and none of them have a use for the keyhole, including my mower. It`s a mystery to me what it`s for.
