T A adjustment

I bought this 1486 four years ago and the TA was blocked. Had transmission trouble last fall, nut came off the counter shaft and droped first gear so had to pull the trans. out. Thought while was at it, would get the TA fixed as well. It had been welded. Well all back together and the TA shifts good but when you letting out on the clutch, half way up it feels like it is shifting from low to high range. Anyone know what might be out of adjustment?

Yes your dump valve is out of adjustment. But on the 86 series here it has a lot to do with what style clutch pivot you have as there is two . One mounts to the cab and one mounts to the speed trans . So if the cab mounts are getting bad and the cab is settling then first i would addres the cab mount problem then reajust the clutch Ya first start off with the free travel of the clutch pedal after ya got that set then next do the trans brake then ya do the T/A dump valve and the vary best way is with th engine running trans in N and park lock on ( now this will require two people ) one to push the clutch down and one todo the adjusting . First back off the dump valve bolt and unscrew it 5 or 6 turns oh yea the teltale lite in the dash MUST BE working. With the clutch pedal down to the stop the lite will be off hold the clutch down and start to trun the dump valve bolt in slowly till the lite comes on and stop just as soon as it does , now let the clutch pedal up and add one more full turn and lock the lock nut down . It is late and i am tired and off the top of my head at this time i can not remember the free travel on the 86 series off the top of my head. Ya have a problem catch me later when i have had a good nights sleep.
